Background

Dylan Johnson was the only son of a young couple, raised in the metropolitan Detroit area. Soon after turning five, they adopted his younger sister Melrose. Unfortunately, only months later, his parents would leave them with a babysitter and never come back. The babysitter placed them in an orphanage, and for the next two years, he would protect his sister from local bullies.

When his sister was 5, she was adopted again, and Dylan was alone. He had very little friends, and his friendships were short because all of his friends would soon be adopted. He would remain at the orphanage for the next 7 years, and when he was 14, his sister would return to the orphanage, only this time, with her biological grandmother, whom she had recently become reunited with, to take in her brother. Her grandmother took care of both of them, and when Dylan was 17, she would put them in their own home that she would finance. After graduating high school, Dylan would not go onto to college due to lack of financial payment.

One day, while waiting for a bus to go to a job interview, he met Natasha Jones, a student on her way to school. The two both arrived early before their respective bus, so they began to bond as they waited for it to come. Dylan never got the job, but the two eventually began dating. He would continue to live with his sister for the next few years.
